Network Rail
Senior Geospatial Surveyor
Following 6 years of experience in Network Rail\’s Property team, I gained promotion to a senior role. In November 2016 my position evolved into a managerial role. I am now line manager to a team of three people; two of which are based in Manchester and one who is based in London.
I am the Responsible Manager for the survey section of our team. On a national scale I oversee all surveys which come in to our team, review the safety aspects of the site and allocate them to the relevant surveyor.

Network Rail
Geomatics Analyst & Surveyor
Use ArcGIS to pull in databases and overlay reference drawings to produce Land Registry compliant conveyance documents, lease plans and deed plans. A large responsibility is maintaining up to date records of Network Rail\’s land ownership through comparing the relationships between historic title deeds, neighbouring land registrations and current boundaries shown in OS. Where the boundary needs clarification I am able to use the in house data to stake out the boundary through OS coordinates programed in to remote Leica GPS and or Leica Total Station.
I am often asked to use the surveying kit to pick up features and have so far had the pleasure of surveying the new station building at Edinburgh Haymarket along with the new connecting tram line which spans 6 miles, internal surveys of the basement arches at Leeds Station, elevation surveys for demolition of an old freight warehouse in York and various other topographic and volumetric surveys.
Many of these surveys I am able to draw up, manipulate and interpretate in Autodesk\’s AutoCAD.
May 2014 saw the completion of the TSA\’s Surveying Course which I passed with a distinction. I now aim to get my MRICS by April 2015.

2007 - 2008
Network Rail
GI Data Analyst
Working on the CNM (Corporate Network Model) it has been my responsibility to resolve highlighted errors in track layouts using ArcGIS. I started off using simple edit features and creating versions.
As I have progressed I have taken on greater responsibility. The team I am in has fluctuated in size and during the last project where CNM was matched for accurancy and error against the TPS (Train Planning System) model i was the first point of contact for a group of contracted staff. As a result of my experience i was assigned to doing QA (Quality Assurance) work on the edits made by the contracted staff.
On occasions I have stood in for the Acting Senior GI Data Analyst taking on statistical updates.

Scotia Gas Networks
GIS Data Technician
With reference to engineers\’ drawings, I digitised the low medium and high pressure gas pipe networks using ArcGIS. All the pipe line features were related to OS Landline data and I was using ArcGIS\’s dimensioning tool to show measurements from topographic features so the undergroud pipes could be located.
