Introduction
Kablamo is a fast-growing cloud digital product development company. Founded in 2017 in Australia, the business has grown quickly over the last several years, including the expansion of the team to Canada in 2021. We are proud to have assembled an amazing list of customers, including some of the best known enterprise and government organisations, in Australia and Canada. We’re looking to further accelerate our growth in both markets, and we’re seeking a Senior Geospatial Engineer to deliver new products to market.
Kablamo is proud to be an Advanced AWS Consulting partner, and we’ve been recognised as a global leader in designing and building cloud-based data and AI/ML solutions. At the 2021 AWS Global Public Sector conference, Kablamo won the “Most Innovative AI/ML Solution” award for our work building bushfire prediction data platforms in Australia – we were selected from more than 1,800 AWS global partners. Since then, Kablamo has extended our experience and reputation in designing and building bushfire intelligence platforms, including our in-house software platform, Firestory.
The Role
We seek a highly skilled and experienced Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer with a strong background in geospatial technologies. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both front-end and back-end development and extensive experience handling and processing geospatial data. You will play a critical role in designing, building, and maintaining geospatial applications for our enterprise and government customers and for Kablamo’s internal software products.
Over the last few years, Kablamo has focused on growing our experience and customer base in building spatial software solutions. Specifically, we have designed and built world-leading situational awareness and incident intelligence platforms for some of Australia’s latest emergency services agencies. We want to keep growing this part of our business, and we have a pipeline of exciting spatial software projects that focus on multi-hazard incident intelligence for fire agencies and other emergency services organisations in the private and public sectors.
As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer, you will lead the development of complex geospatial applications from inception to deployment. This includes designing scalable architectures, implementing robust data processing pipelines, and creating intuitive user interfaces. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX/UI designers, data scientists, and other engineers, to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Your expertise in handling geospatial data will be crucial in implementing best practice approaches in areas such as optimising data storage, and building responsive and performance visualisation of spatial information. These best practices will likely include software development, code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
Moreover, you will mentor junior developers, helping them grow their technical skills and knowledge in geospatial technologies. You will stay current with the latest trends and advancements in both software engineering and geospatial fields, as you will play a significant role in driving innovation within our team and with our customers.

- Experience with cloud platforms and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) for deploying and managing geospatial applications.
- Familiarity with RESTful APIs.
- Solid understanding of general database technologies, both SQL and NoSQL.
